That is because Tershawn Wharton is being tipped with a move away.
The defensive tackle has enjoyed a fine beginning to the new NFL season as the Chiefs have gone 7-0 for an unbeaten start.
But now BVM Sports claim he is being targetted for a big-money switch.
And it is reported that the New England Patriots could be his next destination.
The Patriots are thought to be keen to bolster their run defense and make their team tougher up front.
As a result, the article suggests Wharton could be the suitable pick.
Wharton turned 26 in July and joined the Chiefs in 2020 after graduating from Missouri S&T.
And now in his fifth, he has kicked on to become an integral player for Andy Reid.’
He is up to 2.5 sacks, 10 total points saved and has two passes defended plus a forced fumble.
However, he was slapped with an $11,817 fine for unnecessary roughness following the win over New Orleans Saints.
Wharton’s latest one-year contract, signed in the spring, is worth $2.5million.
However, his emphatic start means he would likely be able to demand a far higher salary for next year as he becomes a free agent once again.
And that could pave the way for the Patriots to splash the cash with a bumper pay rise.
