The interview ended up being pretty awkward for everyone involved
Cara Delevingne pointed out the difference between US and UK humour after an awkward TV interview of hers went viral.
Everybody knows that sense of humour varies drastically on either side of the Atlantic Ocean.
On one side of the pond you have American humour (or dare I say humor) which is viewed as a more straightforward – and often safer – method of making jokes. British humour on the other hand is typically darker and laced with multiple layers of sarcasm, irony and self-depreciation. Take the difference between The Office US and The Office UK for example.

The differences in humour has also let to awkward interactions between Americans and Brits, with model and actor Delevingne finding this out during a live TV interview.
Back in 2015 Delevingne starred in the movie adaption of John Green's coming-of-age book Paper Towns, opposite Nat Wolff.
Following the film's premiere in the June, Delevingne and her cast-mates naturally embarked on a round of press interviews to promote the teen flick – which led to one very awkward interview.

After a glitzy premiere in New York, Delevingne was beamed in to CBS News Sacramento for a chat with the presenters, and let's just say things didn't quite go to plan.
To a viewer the interview appears doomed from the start, as one of the anchors introduces the actor as 'Carla Delevingne' at first, before later correcting herself.
Delevingne is then grilled about whether or not she read the book, how she copes working 'back-to-back', how she felt about her character and, bizarrely, whether or not she needed a nap.

The star appeared confused by the line of questioning from the get go, sarcastic quips such as 'No, I never read the book or the script' and 'I actually hate her' to answer their questions.
However, it wasn't until another presenter jumped in that the interview went drastically downhill, as he appeared to call Delevingne out for not being 'excited' to talk.
"I'm not any less excited than I was a couple of weeks ago," she responded, before adding: "Maybe I had a bit more energy, it's the morning."

However, the anchors seemingly weren't happy with her response and decided to end the interview abruptly, telling her: "We’ll let you go then, how ’bout that? Why don’t you go take a little nap, maybe get a Red Bull."
Viewers were of course divided on the matter, with some claiming Delevingne was being ungrateful in her responses while others called out the manner in which the interviewers questioned her.
Clearly the backlash made its way back to Delevingne as well, as she would later attempt to clarify the situation by tweeting: "Some people just don’t understand sarcasm or the British sense of humour."
