Chiefs running game, defense key in 28-18 win over San Francisco

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to square off in a Super Bowl rematch against the San Francisco 49ers.

Kickoff is set for 3:25 p.m.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 11 of 17 passes for 108 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the game, resulting in a passer rating of 58.0.

On the ground, the team rushed for 71 yards with Kareem Hunt scoring two touchdowns on 11 carries.

The Chiefs defense, outside of a few big plays through the air, has controlled things.

Purdy completed 8 of 16 passes for 113 yards, one interception, and a passer rating of 47.1. The team struggled in the running game, totaling just 21 yards on eight carries.

7:35, second quarter: Perhaps the MVP of the game so far for the Chiefs, at least offensively, is Mecole Hardman. Hardman makes another big play, this one on specials teams. His 55-yard punt return has the Chiefs driving.

11:24, second quarter: One of the Chiefs’ best drives of the 2024 season ends with a Kareem Hunt touchdown.

Hunt’s touchdown capped off a seven-play, 70-yard drive.
