Donna Kelce says her son Travis loves the attention as his fame skyrockets

The spotlight has intensified on Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce and if you ask his mum, Donna Kelce, it’s all part of the plan.

The matriarch of the Kelce clan, who knows her son inside out, suggests the 34-year-old NFL star is thriving under the increased attention, something he’s no doubt accustomed to after playing a pivotal role in securing three Super Bowl victories for the Chiefs.

Even Travis might not have predicted the surge in fame following the buzz around his relationship with Taylor Swift, but Donna is convinced he’s embracing the limelight. “He’s always been one to be in the limelight,” she shared with Extra.

“He loves attention. I mean it, he’s always dancing, always joking around, always having fun… he just loves life,”.

Donna sees Travis current trajectory as one ascending to greater heights. She expressed her feeling in no uncertain terms: “It just seems like his life is on a trajectory that just is rising every single day.

“Every time I turn around, I’m seeing him doing something different whether it’s on the golf course, or at a concert, or whatever, he’s just having his best life right now. … A lot of the antics that he does, whether it’s on the field or elsewhere … even with his clothes sometimes, he’s like, ‘I just want a smile out of people.'”.

Kelce is finding himself under increased scrutiny due to his high-profile relationship. Swift’s global fame means that her boyfriend is also in the spotlight, whether he likes it or not.

Despite a slow start to the 2024 NFL season, with only 69 receiving yards from eight receptions, the 34-year-old is determined to bounce back. This comes after his impressive run of seasons with 1,000 or more receiving yards was broken last year when he achieved 984.

Travis acknowledged his performance dip and expressed his commitment to improving, particularly as the Chiefs aim for their third consecutive Super Bowl win.

“I think this year stats may say something different, but at the same time you’ll see the same person inside this building, and that’s all I really care about,’ he said, according to ESPN. “I’m my own worst critic. Everything outside of this building is just noise.”

However, he remains confident in star quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ decision-making abilities, even as more attention is focused on him. “I’m fortunate. I’ve had the success in the past and I realised that the ball can’t always go to one person,” Travis added.

“It can’t always get in my hands, but at the same time, I got all the trust in [Patrick Mahomes] to make the right decision, and he’s been making great decisions. We might not be putting up as [many] points as we want to, but at the same time we’re 3-0 and we’re doing something right. ”.
