The Kansas City Chiefs look to maintain their immaculate record in Week 5 when they take on the New Orleans Saints on Monday.

The Chiefs are coming off a fourth straight win after beating the Los Angeles Chargers, 17-10. It, however, was a costly victory as wide receiver Rashee Rice suffered a knee injury.

With the 24-year-old Rice expected to miss an extended period, Chiefs coach Andy Reid will have to tinker with his rotation to fill the hole. Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman could see increased roles.

With wide receiver Davante Adams requesting a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders, confirming earlier speculations, some analysts asserted that he could be a viable target for the Chiefs.

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell mentioned the Chiefs as one of the possible destinations for Adams, saying the three-time All-Pro First Team member would fill an “immediate need.”

Barnwell, however, wasn’t too bullish about the idea.

“There are more problems with the fit than it might initially seem, though,” he wrote. “The Chiefs are already dealing with serious injuries at receiver, with Hollywood Brown out for the regular season and Rashee Rice sidelined indefinitely.

“Adams is dealing with a hamstring injury that popped up in practice last week, and while Kansas City will undoubtedly be able to examine him before making a trade, hamstring injuries for wideouts can linger.”

Reid earlier shut down the idea of acquiring a new wide receiver before the trade deadline next month.

But as the three-time Super Bowl champion coach also pointed out, the Chiefs have enough depth to ease the absence of Rice.

The genius of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who’s not exactly new to unforeseen challenges, will be fully utilized. There’s also tight end Travis Kelce, who finally had a solid game against the Chargers after a slow start to the season.
