Three days after being spotted out in public for the first time since her beloved superstar boyfriend’s untimely demise, Kate Cassidy took to Instagram with a tribute post on October 23 (2024). While the beautiful photos she shared of the duo were touching, it was also Liam Payne’s note, which was given to her weeks before his death, that left fans devastated.

Giving her followers glimpses of the wonderful life she and the late “Teardrops” artist experienced, Cassidy’s images displayed the couple embarking on adventures.
From enjoying some time out in nature to snuggling up amid a snowy atmosphere, her photos radiated nothing but pure love and happiness.

The second image depicted Cassidy’s heartfelt statement addressing Payne’s death. After expressing how shattered and heartbroken she is, Cassidy highlighted her wish for Payne to be able to witness his incredible impact on the world and know how loved he was and continues to be by countless people.

Cassidy also shared her struggle to reconcile that she now has to continue living life without Payne, noting how she lost “the best part” of herself.

Then came the letter that Cassidy had received from her dearly missed boyfriend. “*me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & 2gether 4ever 444,” reads the note that was written in pencil. Accompanying this were two cards — one had the number “444” written on it while the other showed a drawing of a rose.

Providing context as to what the number signifies regarding spirituality, Cassidy’s last photo explained, “Sequence number 444 is the favorite number sequence of the angels. More often, you will see the number 444 when you are feeling alone.”

When Cassidy’s followers saw her post, many flocked to the comment section to express their sorrow. “This has broken me more than I was […] 😭,” wrote an Instagrammer while another echoed, “So sorry for your loss 😢 my heart is shattered 💔.”
Jumping on the heartbroken bandwagon, another person commented, “😢😢😢😢😢omg.” “oh my lord [sic],” added someone else. Showing sympathy and support for Cassidy, an admirer asserted, “I can’t even imagine what you’ve been through, you are so strong love. Big hug ❤️🩹.”
A past interview from 2019 showed Payne as a very loving person. Speaking with MTV about his life and music career back then, the “Strip That Down” singer divulged details about a past relationship.

After sharing how living a life in public made dating hard for him, Payne disclosed, “I’m kind of at the place in my life now where I just realized it’s not worth sacrificing my happiness because somebody might see something. The 25-year-old influencer kept things casual, donning an oversized graphic T-shirt, gray sweatpants, and slides, with her hair loosely cascading down her face. Her friends matched her laid-back vibe, as they were similarly dressed in oversized tees and sweats.
The trio also had a furry companion at their side — a dog many believed to be Nala, which is the beloved pup that Payne and Cassidy rescued together. Following the outing, fans were quick to express concern for Cassidy’s emotional state.

Although his death was initially surrounded by mystery, it was later reported that he was under the influence of potent drugs. Taking to social media on Friday (October 18), Cassidy reportedly paid tribute to Payne, with whom she lived in Florida.
In her since-expired Instagram Story, she expressed her gratitude for the kind words and love she had received and mentioned that she feels completely lost. Cassidy also noted how nothing about the recent days felt real and requested grace and space to navigate her grief privately.
