Patrick Mahomes’ Dad’s 3-Word Response as Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield’s Blunder Helps Chiefs Go 8–0
Where there’s Patrick Mahomes, there’s a chance for victory! While this might not hold true every single game, today’s performance certainly makes fans believe it. The Kansas City Chiefs had been trailing the Buccaneers, but in the fourth quarter, Mahomes and his team surged ahead. They tied the score at 17-17 with 12:43 left on the clock. Later, after a touchdown, they pushed their score to 24. In overtime, they seized the win from Baker Mayfield and their team, clinching a hard-fought 30-24 victory.
This win made every Chiefs fan proud! And how can Patrick Mahomes’ father, proud Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s happiness, go unnoticed? After his son clinched another victory in the season, Patrick Mahomes Sr, who also attended the Chiefs-Bucs game, said, “Players make plays.”
This quote was recently used as a caption by Zoe Mahomes, one of Mahomes Sr.’s children, who shared a picture of herself with her father at Arrowhead. Indeed, everyone is proud of Patrick Mahomes and his Red Army, especially after their interesting close overtime matchup.
This overtime game also led fans to revisit the Super Bowl overtime, where the Chiefs dazzled in the last few minutes of the game. Hence, as Patrick Mahomes & KC pulled off another incredible win this time, Robert Griffin III talked about the blunder that Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers did.
On X, Griffin III wrote, “I TOLD YOU. Never play for overtime against Patrick Mahomes. THEY NEVER LEARN.” Before this warning, the former quarterback tweeted, “Go for 2!!!!! Don’t give Mahomes a chance,” while the overtime was underway. Nevertheless, the Bucs didn’t go for two, so Mahomes got the ball and marched down the field, leading his team to their eighth straight win.
Patrick Mahomes wowed the audience!
It was a nail-biter, but the Chiefs came out on top! They beat the Buccaneers 30-24 in overtime to stay undefeated at 8-0. The situation looked bleak as the fourth quarter began, but Patrick Mahomes sparked a comeback, scoring 14 straight points to snatch the lead. But Baker Mayfield wasn’t done yet.
He led a 71-yard march to tie things up, sending chills through the stadium as the Bucs’ defense held KC to force overtime. During the OT, the Chiefs got the ball first and Patrick Mahomes did what he does best! He led a drive that ended with Kareem Hunt sealing it with a walk-off touchdown. To top it all off, Mahomes found his rhythm with new teammate DeAndre Hopkins, who racked up 86 yards and two touchdowns.
Indeed, it was the game of the season so far, and the Chiefs are still perfect. Patrick Mahomes, on the other hand, completed 34 of 44 attempts for 291 yards and three touchdowns.
