The combination of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter has helped the 23rd-ranked Buffaloes become bowl-eligible in 2024.
Hunter and Shedeur Sanders — both virtual locks to be top NFL picks — only enhanced their resumes with stellar performances last weekend.
Sanders completed his first 15 passes against Cincinnati, a school record to begin a game. He finished 25 of 30 for 323 yards and two touchdowns, while also running for a score.
According to Colorado’s breakdown, Hunter played 68 of 71 snaps on offense, all 61 on defense and three on special teams.
On defense, he had four pass breakups. On offense, Hunter finished with nine catches for a career-best 153 yards and two touchdowns.
This week, Shedeur Sanders is being praised for his selfless attitude as he stated how much he wants Hunter to win the Heisman award.

“It’s a lot of feelings that go into that, but I feel like if it’s out of us, you’ve got to think they are not going to give [it to] two players on the same team, me and Trav,” Shedeur Sanders said after Saturday’s victory over Cincinnati.
“It’s just not going to happen like that, so it is what it is, and I don’t really look too deep into that. I just want Travis to win, of course, and that will be almost like I won because I threw him the ball. Travis is the best player in college football, hands down, and I’m excited for him to win it. That would just make my day.
“It was like seeing him on the front of the NCAA game [EA Sports College Football 25]. Just seeing him on there and knowing how much sacrifice he took to make all of this happen, going to an HBCU and coming here, no matter how much money he was offered and all that crazy type of stuff I heard they told him.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, you’re a good friend, bro, you’re a good brother’, so I’m just excited for him. He could get all the accolades and everything, and that’s fine because he deserves it.”
Shedeur Sanders Is Also Putting Up Heisman Trophy Numbers
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders might be championing Travis Hunter to win the Heisman, but his season should not be ignored.
Sanders has been instrumental in Colorado’s transformation since his arrival from Jackson State.
On the year, Sanders ranks No. 6 in the country in passing yards (2,591), No. 3 in passing touchdowns (21) and No. 4 in completion percentage (73.3%).
